  • #ARoomOfOnesOwnDay

Ladies and gentlemen, how's everyone doing tonight? You know, today is National A Room Of One’s Own Day! Yes, it’s a day dedicated to women’s independence! Thank you, Virginia Woolf! She was all about creating your own space and pursuing personal goals. And let me tell you, having a “room of one’s own” sounds great—until you realize that you’ve just designated a corner of your living room to hide from your kids, your pets, or just from reality! Like, "Honey, I’ll be in my room of my own...watching Netflix and avoiding adulting!" So, speaking of personal goals, let’s be honest, we all have them. My ultimate goal right now? A new career! Who doesn’t want to land that dream job where your boss only communicates with you through inspirational quotes? Just one “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” away from being employed! Can we talk about how vague and unhelpful that sounds, though? Like, I'm not trying to be Michael Jordan; I'm just trying to figure out if the coffee machine at this new job works! And on top of that, I’ve got my side hustle, For the Love of Basgifts. Yes folks, that’s right! I sell gifts to make you feel better about your questionable decisions! But here's the kicker—I’ve got 574 friends on Facebook and only 40 followers on TikTok! What’s up with that? I feel like a failing contestant on a twisted version of ‘Survivor’! “Congratulations, you’ve made it to the end of your social media journey! But you now have fewer followers than the average cat video!” I mean, come on! If we’re friends, how can you not enjoy me dancing unconventionally to pop songs while pretending to sell stuff? I’m basically the “before” picture in every adulting book! So I’m appealing to all of you, will you be my Valentine and go like and follow my TikTok? I promise the warm and fuzzy feelings will outweigh the shame of being an adult trying to make money on the internet! Like, at this rate, I might as well start flossing and doing TikTok challenges when I should be attending job interviews. "Yes, Mr. Boss Man, I can totally handle these spreadsheets, but have you seen my viral dance to ‘Old Town Road’?” So, remember, folks, this National A Room Of One’s Own Day, let’s all create a space—preferably a ‘like’ space for my TikTok! I'm just trying to find my independence, artistic expression, and maybe a little ad revenue. Thank you, terrific people! You've been amazing! It’s hard to fathom how hundreds of dollars can just disappear in a flurry of wrapping paper within minutes. But the look of surprise on loved ones’ faces makes it all worthwhile. Now, as we shift our focus from holiday cheer to Valentine’s Day, let’s take a little trip back in time. Did you know that Valentine’s Day, while now celebrated as a romantic holiday, actually dates back to 1415? According to MSN, the first recorded valentine was sent by Charles, Duke of Orleans, while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. Can you believe it? A former prince, with a beautiful wife he would never see again, was writing poetry from his cell! Here’s a snippet of his heartfelt message: I am already sick of love,My very gentle Valentine,Since for me you were born too late,And I for you was born too soon... A bit dramatic, right? But such is the way of love! Interestingly, Valentine’s Day also coincides with the beginning of bird mating season, which makes sense for celebrating love. In America, the tradition of exchanging gifts really took off around the 1840s, according to the History Channel. And here’s a fun fact: we send about 145 million Valentine’s Day cards each year! With roughly 332.4 million people in the U.S. (as of 2022), that leaves about 187.4 million people without a valentine. Why not help change that? I’m excited to announce my new Valentine’s Day line, perfect for spreading love! Explore my creations and find something special to share with your loved ones—or maybe treat yourself! See you in the digital streets! Much love, Heather

Born in the 90’s and dubbed by Gary Chapman, Ph.D. who proposed that people experience love and give love differently. Personally, I find the idea of love languages fascinating because they offer insight into how different people connect emotionally. And according to the International Journal of Relationship Studies, understanding and embracing each other's love styles can reduce relationship conflicts by up to 50%. For me, I would say that my top love languages are Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch and Quality Time but the others are important to . 😁 😍What is your love language?😍 Words of Affirmation : I appreciate verbal acknowledgments and compliments. Hearing kind words can really uplift my spirits. Acts of Service : Small gestures that show care and consideration, like helping with tasks, can strengthen bonds and show appreciation. Physical Touch: According to Forbes , Feeling comfortable and secure when you’re physically connected to your partner. Receiving Gifts- According to Forbes , In this love language the person will appreciate receiving a visual symbol of their partner’s affection—most definitely one that’s been carefully selected by the giver . Quality Time : I truly value deep conversations and shared experiences. Spending meaningful time together fosters a strong connection. While all five love languages are important, I believe that understanding your partner’s primary love languages can enhance the relationship, allowing both partners to feel loved and valued in their unique ways.
